ASOS, a major UK-based online style and beauty retailer, has announced the latest launch of its shopping app, giving an exciting new user experience when browsing and buying from their web site, using an iPhone, an iPad or the iPod Touch.
The firm’s e-Commerce director, Mr James Hart, said, “After year-on-year growth of over 800 percent in mobile revenue, I’m pleased to release our iPad and iPhone shopping apps. We decided to take a considered approach to releasing these first apps, so that their foundations were rock-solid, thereby allowing us to now develop and improve the experiences.”
For totally-synchronised account management, consumers can integrate data quite seamlessly between the main shopping website, the mobile website and the ASOS app. Key shopping functions, including “Save for Later” – where items of interest are saved from the type results page to review within the customer’s preferred timeframe – and “Shopping Bag” is available upon sign-in.
More functions exclusive to the ASOS shopping app include the ability to search and locate nearby dropping-off points (by map) for returns, and saved searches to access their favourite kinds of items more quickly.
Hart commented further, explaining “We also wanted to make sure the app synced with the main site, so we built APIs to do that. As a result, we’ve delivered real-time stock availability and your Bag and Saved Items syncing with your main ASOS account. Finally, we’ve built some app-specific features in such as offline browsing of ‘New In’ items, for those underground moments, and a new My Searches area; both designed for speed and convenience on the go. Watch this space for much more over the coming months.”
The ASOS shopping app launch comes just one month following the ASOS magazine app, and a year since the dedicated mobile web site, in a series of advanced fresh technological platforms from worldwide online store, which added Australia and Italy to its website portfolio over the last week.
Established in June 2000 and admitted to AIM in October 2001, ASOS.com [http://www.asos.com/au ] is the UK’s biggest independent online style and beauty retailer, providing over 40,000 branded and own label product lines across womenswear – including clothes.
