There are plenty of tricks to beat a hangover, or so many believe that to be true. People drink coffee the night before, or guzzle several glasses of water, or even take vitamin C. But, according to separate questionnaires of 789 Canadians students and 489 Dutch students, who were asked a series of questions related to their drinking in the last month, the best cure for a hangover is to drink less.
Yep. One might think that a research study was not needed to conclude that, but researchers at the University of Utrecht conducted the study nonetheless.
The head scientist, Dr .Joris Verster, said: “From what we know from the surveys so far, the only practical way to avoid a hangover is to drink less alcohol.”
His paper on the topic was presented at the European College of Neuropsychopharmacology conference.
“Those who took food or water showed a slight statistical improvement in how they felt over those who didn’t, but this didn’t really translate into a meaningful difference,” Dr. Verster added.
