President Joe Biden is set to visit Colorado, where he will promote his economic agenda in the home district of one of the House GOP’s most controversial lawmakers, Rep. Lauren Boebert.
During this visit, Biden plans to tour the CS Wind wind tower factory in Pueblo, Colorado, highlighting the factory’s adoption of the Inflation Reduction Act and other aspects of his economic record, collectively referred to as “Bidenomics” by the White House.
This visit is part of the ongoing effort to contrast President Biden’s agenda with Republican opposition, particularly targeting opposition to key legislation such as the IRA and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
CS Wind, the world’s largest manufacturing plant for wind turbine towers in Pueblo, credits the IRA with fueling its growth and expansion.
The company has recently embarked on an expansion project that is expected to create 850 new jobs in Colorado by 2026. Clean-energy tax credits under the IRA will also benefit the company.
The White House reports over $5 billion in clean-energy and manufacturing investments in Colorado since President Biden took office, with an estimated 3,500 jobs created in the state since the first anniversary of the IRA’s implementation in August.
Rep. Lauren Boebert was not invited to the event, and her district is where the CS Wind facility is located. President Biden had previously mentioned CS Wind’s expansion and Boebert’s opposition to the IRA during an August speech in New Mexico.
Boebert, like many Republicans, has strongly criticized the Inflation Reduction Act, considering it a “massive failure.”
The visit is part of Biden’s broader “Investing in America” tour, which aims to promote his economic initiatives and has often included trips to red states where these policies have had an impact.
It was planned before recent political developments in the House of Representatives, where House Republicans aim to elect a new speaker in the coming week.
