January 6th was a date that made headlines and continues to be a hot topic in the US. The insurrection at the Capitol went out of control as MAGA protestors tried to overturn the election results. Trump has been on the hook for this, and it seems his situation is worsening.
The last hearing will focus on aspects Americans already know about, but it will most likely give more evidence. The hearing will prove that a sitting president stood back and did nothing while rioters threatened a major national security target.
The January 6th committee will go into who Trump spoke to in those 187 minutes when rioters breached the Capitol. Trump did not try to talk to the rioters as they tried to harm his vice president. He refused to try and intervene or condemn the violence as he should have.
Congress and staff pleaded with him to talk to his supporters and call off the attack, but he would not. The MAGA defense is distressed as more evidence shows that Donald Trump wanted the mob to attack the Capitol.
Cassidy Hutchinson’s testimony suggested that Trump wanted members of the secret service to take him to the Capitol. His intention was not to stop the riot but rather to lead them into the building.
Secret service members refused to take him to the Capitol because of security measures. Trump denied this, but a new witness, an officer in the motorcade, confirmed the events. More evidence proves that Trump planned the insurrection on January 6th.
As the final trial comes closer, more evidence might come up, but this will surely be an interesting hearing.
