The petition demanding the elimination of Amber from Aquaman’s sequel, Aquaman 2, has reached an astonishing 4,000,640 signatures. This makes it one of the most signed petitions in history.
Originally the petition got over 2 million signatures in just 2 weeks since its creation on Change.org. The petition came up due to Jonny Depp’s defamation lawsuit against the Aquaman actress.
The petition keeps gaining momentum as the trial continues, and it is not going Amber’s way. The trial has entered its fifth week, and it has disturbing details about Herd’s behavior. Jonny Depp testified that Amber Herd abused him while she claimed he abused her.
Amber authored an op-ed for the Washington Post, which led to the $50 million defamation lawsuit. Amber claimed she was a domestic violence victim in the post though she didn’t mention the abuser’s name.
It was clear that she implied Jonny Depp, which caused his elimination from Pirates of the Caribbean. Amber also sued Jonny Depp for 100 million dollars and accused him of abuse. This led to a messy and lengthy trial that held the nation for weeks.
It might seem that Amber will lose her spot in Aquaman regardless of how the case goes. Warner Bros studios and DC will most likely cave to the petition and fire her. There was speculation that her role wouldn’t last due to a lack of chemistry with the main character.
As the case continues, Jason Momoa, the star of Aquaman, seems to have taken Jonny Depp’s side. Jason twitted calling for Justice for Depp, and this might add to the change in the Aquaman 2 cast come to its release early next year.
