Two Weeks Suspension For Whoopi Goldberg On “Wrong And Hurtful.” Remarks

Whoopi Goldberg, host of “The View,” has been suspended by ABC News for two weeks. The news station decided to suspend her after responding that the Holocaust wasn’t about race.

“Wrong and hurtful.” are the words of ABC’s News president used to describe Goldberg’s comments.

“While Whoopi has apologized, I’ve asked her to take time to reflect and learn about the impact of her comments,” said Godwin. “The entire ABC News organization stands in solidarity with our Jewish colleagues, friends, family, and communities.”

She made hurtful comments in a heated debate in which the panel talked about a Nazi novel that a Tennesse school board banned.

“It’s about the Holocaust, the killing of six million people, but that didn’t bother you?” Goldberg responded. “If you’re going to do this, then let’s be truthful about it because the Holocaust isn’t about race. No, it’s not about race.”

According to Joy Behar, Nazis defined Jewish people differently. “But it’s not about race,” said Goldberg. “It’s not. It’s about man’s inhumanity to another man.”

According to one of the hosts, the nazis targeted Roma and jews, but Goldberg responded that they were “groups of white people.” Another host said that Nazis did not see Jewish people as white, but Goldberg said she wasn’t getting the point again.

According to Goldberg, “The minute you turn it into the race, it goes down this alley,” she said. “Let’s talk about it for what it is. It’s how people treat each other. It’s a problem.”

However, she later expressed her regret.

“On today’s show, I said the Holocaust ‘is not about race, but about man’s inhumanity to man,’” she said. “I should have said it is about both.

As Jonathan Greenblatt from the Anti-Defamation League shared, ‘The Holocaust was about the Nazi’s systematic annihilation of the Jewish people — who they deemed to be an inferior race.’ I stand corrected.”

Most people felt that her comments during the show were unnecessary. She is expected to appear on the show again after two weeks.
