On Monday, Jill Biden said that the bill would no longer include the administration’s priority of offering tuition-free community college for two years in any of the “social spending bill” the congressional democrats will attempt to authorize
“One year ago, I told this group that Joe was going to fight for community colleges,” she said.Â
According to her, Biden has made compromises, although Congress has not initiated the “build back better agenda.”
Jill, a literature teacher at northern Virginia college, expressed her disappointment after it was clear and known that the care plan could not be in the legislature. “These aren’t just bills and budgets to me.” She said.Â
Biden pledged to make the community college free once more in the first term as the president.
“I’m going to get it done,” Biden said. “And if I don’t, I’ll be sleeping alone for a long time,”Â
Biden had proposed that Congress allocate $109 billion to cater for the free community college for two years. It would help many students attain a certificate or degree.Â
According to the white house, the “American Families Plan” would also care for migrant students who follow their parents into the country. The migrants were referred to as “dreamers.” The care plan would ensure that their dreams of studying and getting a degree are realized.Â
Talks about “Build Back Better legislation” failed among the democrats when senator Manchin announced his opposition towards the bill publically last year.Â
According to Manchin, the new “build back better” “was dead.” However, he is willing to engage in discussions with the administration.Â
“What Build Back Better bill?” he said. “It’s dead.”
