Volodymir Zelinsky, the Ukrainian president, asked the United States president Joe Biden for a unified “state of the union message.” Biden delivered a message dictating that the invasion by Russia was the first unifying war in democracy’s new battle with dictatorship.
Biden passed along a “stirring rallying cry” to the world yesterday night as Russia struck Ukraine with new explosions in Kyiv, where Zelensky hid in a bunker. Zelensky has taken part in the war to defend the invasion.
The Russian president has shocked many with his ruthless tactics and nuclear weapons, which threatens another war. In his address, Biden urged people to unite. He also addressed Vladimir Putin to resolve issues with Ukraine to stop the fighting.
“In the battle between democracy and autocracies, democracies are rising to the moment, and the world is choosing the side of peace and security — this is the real test,” Biden said. However, he added by cautioning that it will take time for democracies and autocracies to understand peace and security.
“It’s going to take time.” He added. Biden claimed that the battle between Russia and Ukraine started a struggle for freedom endangered by dictators. Throughout history, dictators have been a menace and have proved ruthless.
Zelensky shared with a CNN journalist that although the conflict might seem regional, the impacts will be adverse. It can be seen from the death of civilians and poor economies from sanctions.
“Biden is one of the leaders of the world, and the people of the United States must understand that although the war is in Ukraine … it is a war for the values of democracy, freedom,” Zelensky said.
Biden pledged that his administration would stand with Ukraine at such hard times and praised the president’s move to be a team player to defend their country.
“Go get ’em!” he roared, and ad-libbed line after he defined the state of the country as “strong,” Biden said in his speech.
