Mike Pence Aims To Seclude Himself From Trump As He Eyes To Run For President

People did not expect mike pence to distance himself from the former united states president, Donald Trump. However, the former vice president is determined to do this as he eyes his presidential bid in 2024.

The relationship between the two started crumbling after the 2020 presidential elections when Trump accused pence of rigging the results, which saw his defeat to Biden.

Although most of the republicans are still loyal to Trump, pence is also gaining popularity and is steadily rising.

According to a survey carried out last month, a greater number of republicans prefer to have a different candidate run for the presidential seat under the party than the party leader, Trump.

Although De Santis seemed to favor the Republicans, Pence was one of the candidates. Pence remains grateful and praises Trump for making him the vice president during his term but isn’t moved by the critics made by Trump regarding the 2020 presidential elections.

The former vice president is unshaken because he will face Trump in the 2024 presidential elections.

“We cannot win by fighting yesterday’s battles, or by re-litigating the past,” a statement by pence to republican donors in new Orleans this month. He also urged the party supports to stop protesting over the previous election results, which seems to be “Trump’s favorite topic.”

Pence was selective in his words of choice, he never mentioned Trump by his name, but in his speech in New Orleans, he expressed his concerns about Trump, who praised Vladimir Putin for invading Ukraine. “There is no room in this party for apologists for Putin,” he said.

Political analysts claim that Pence faces a huge challenge because Trump and his supporters criticize him because he never helped overturn Trump’s loss to Biden in 2020.

They believe that the past relationship between Trump and pence will serve as a greater problem for pence if he runs for the 2024 presidential elections.

“Non-Trumpers yawn at him, and some of them revile him for being too socially conservative. Never Trumpers also don’t love that he got in bed with Trump in the first place.” Said Liz Mair, republican political advisor.
