Two More Officers Killed In Virginia College

A shooting at a college in Virginia left two police officers dead. One was a campus safety police while the other was a campus police officer. According to officials, the two officers responded to claims of a “suspicious” individual on campus o Tuesday afternoon. 

The shooter was reported at around 1:20 p.m. the shooter shot the two officers have they interacted briefly in the College’s memorial hall.

Alexander Wyatt, the suspected shooter, escaped on foot but was caught half hour later. The law enforcers chased Wyatt, who fled into the North River. According to Geller, one of the officers, Wyatt, did not resist arrest and was taken into custody after the arrest. 

David Bushman, the college president, Jefferson, and John were the two shooting victims. The two were best friends; the president mentioned that Painter was the best man at Jefferson’s wedding this year. 

“Today, our campus community experienced unspeakable tragedy. Two members of the Bridgewater College family were senselessly and violently taken from us,” David said. The College mourns the death of its two staff. 

“In respect and memory of the officers lost,” Glenn Youngkin, Virginia’s governor, said that the flags will be flown at half-staff in the state on Wednesday. 

Wyatt is currently being held at the Rockingham County Jail without bond. The 27-year-old suspect was charged with four counts of felonies. 

Wyatt’s gunshot wound was nursed, although it is unclear how he got shot. According to Geller, it is the only Painter who was armed.  “He was not supposed to be in this particular location,” Geller said as she was referring to the shooter. 

Biden, the president, also responded with a tweet, “Another senseless shooting has taken the lives of two brave officers.”

“Jill and I are praying for the families of those lost. Gun violence against law enforcement officers is sickening, and it must end,” he added.Biden will meet with New York’s mayor to address the issues about gun violence after another shooting in January that left two NYPD officers dead.
